Parade - Chelsea speak out - at last

Last updated : 16 May 2008 By Paul Lagan
Following comments from posters on the Chelsea-mad messageboard regarding a parade after the Champions League, Chelsea have finally come out and issued a statement.
Posters were curious if there was going to be a parade and clearly intersted in getting to the Bridge if there was one.
With it being half-term for many kids, there was a great chance for them to cheer on the boys they can only see from a distance or on TV.
Chelsea, having bowed to the pressure of these fair-minded comments decided yesterday to issue a statement regarding the final.
I repeat it below, in full for your consideration.

Chelsea Football Club is aware of statements from various authorities regarding the options for a parade in the event that we are successful in the Champions League Final.
Clearly a plan for a parade in our local area of London was something that needed to be discussed in advance.

It would be inappropriate for us to comment further on this matter, as we have yet to play the match, other than to say it is totally untrue we have denied our fans the opportunity to celebrate with the team. If we win next Wednesday we will make our position publicly clear then.

There you have it. So hold your breath, don't make any plans, put off thatt much-needed holiday - just jump when we tell you to jump.

Now it does not take too many brain cells to understand that a parade needs organising, not least at council-level.
What fans and council taxpayers would like to know is when will it be and if they lose will there still be one?

Now if there are difficulties with the council, I'm sure there have been some in then past, let everyone know what they are - we will understand.
But no, Chelsea have decided it's on a "need to know, basis" and you the fans are the last ones that need to know.

Chelsea are a wonderful club, we love the team, the atmosphere and plough shed loads of cash into it.
Just a little more respect for the fans would not go amiss.
Sadly, I think Roman is not aware of what is going on. I suspect he would make ensure us fans are given proper information and not dismissed as an afterthought.
What do you think?
