Norwich have completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan for the duration of the 2021/22 season, with the 20-year-old keen to starting playing regularly in the Premier League.
Gilmour became a permanent member of the Chelsea first-team squad midway through the 2019/20 season, but injury prematurely ended his campaign after only a handful of promising appearances. The youngster played in 11 Chelsea games last season and impressed for Scotland at Euro 2020.
More game time is the crucial next step for him and a Chelsea statement explained, the move allows Gilmour to ‘continue his development by gaining more first-team experience in the top flight.’
The player himself, meanwhile, told Norwich’s official website, “I’m very excited to be here. I can’t wait for the season ahead. I’ve been looking forward to coming here, playing as much as possible and helping Norwich City compete in the Premier League.
