N'Golo Kante 'turned down' PSG approach in January

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante knocked back an approach from Paris Saint-Germain in January regarding a summer transfer, according to a report from the French capital.

The 31-year-old is into his sixth season at Stamford Bridge and remains as important a player to the Blues as ever.

Now firmly one of the Premier League's greatest ever players, Ligue 1 giants PSG have long been hoping that Kante will show a desire to return to his homeland.

However, Le Parisien report that the Parc des Princes club made an approach to the midfielder back in January to put the feelers out over a summer switch, but Kante insisted he is happy in England and did not want to face the high-pressure demands of playing for a club like PSG.

This is not the first time that Kante has rejected an offer from PSG. After winning the Premier League title with Leicester in 2016, the midfielder instead opted to head to Stamford Bridge rather than make a swift return to France, while the Parisians were also keen on bringing him in after his World Cup-winning campaign in 2018 to replace Thiago Motta.

Despite his legend-like status in his home country, Kante has only ever played one season of Ligue 1 football - the 2014/15 campaign with Caen which earned him that famous move to Leicester.

Kante's Chelsea contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season, a deal which he penned following PSG's approach in 2018.
