After Manchester United signed Alexander Buttner and effected ended their interest in Everton left back Leighton Baines, it looked like the England international had settled on spending at least one more season on Merseyside.
Howver comments emerging from inside Goodison Park have suggested that Baines may be looking for a move away in the final week of trading. The defender was signed from Wigan for a fee of ?6 million in 2007 and would certainly attract a fee in excess of double that now. Both Chelsea and Spurs are keeping close eye on the developments with football insiders suggesting that this could be the big transfer that traditional happens just as the window slams shut on on deadline day.
