Chelsea has seen a deal which would have seen Raul Meireles move to Stamford Bridge in exchange for Yossi Benayoun collapse.

Liverpool want the Benayoun PLUS £8m for Meireles which the SW6 club has rejected - for now.

Benayoun is expected to move ahead of tomorrow's deadline with Arsenal and Spurs enetering the fray to land the midfielder.

But with Chelsea's top target Luka Modric seeminly staying at White Hart Lane - at least today, Chelsea has shifted their attention to Meireles who played under Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas at Porto.

Liverpool will move the midfielder on and Chelsea will have to add some cash as well as benayoun to tempt the Reds.
