Lamps For England?

But wheter or not Sven agrees is another matter completely. But Lamps won't have done his chances any harm with his performance yesterday, having a hand in all 3 Chelsea goals and generally bossing the middle of the park.

All this prompted Claudio to say, "He was a very good player when I signed him. If I chose him, then I must have believed in him.

"But I also think that when Sven-Goran Eriksson called him back into the England squad, it gave him more confidence in himself."

"I think Frank deserves a run in the England side. In my opinion, he is a complete midfielder. He can defend, attack and can play either short or long passes, as well as running and tackling. He also has a very good character."

He showed all of these characteristics against Leeds. And Claudio was full of praise for his performance, saying "Frank played a fantastic match and I'm very pleased with him. He was a point of reference for the team in the middle of the pitch alongside Jody Morris.

"He was everywhere and that was very important for us. Against Leeds, who are a strong team, we needed to show the same fighting spirit."

Come on Sven, give him a chance alongside Paul Scholes- you won't regret it...
