Mancheater United and Chelsea have both spent the last few months trying to reach an amicable agreement for Kenyon's "gardening leave". And at long last he has got the all clear to start work in his new role at the beginning of February.

A statement issued on behlaf of Mr Kenyon read: "Kenyon will join Chelsea Village plc as chief executive on 1 February."

"Manchester United and Chelsea have reached a mutually satisfactory settlement regarding his resignation.

"Peter is pleased that the negotiations have been amicably concluded and greatly looks forward to the challenges that await him at Chelsea."

Chelsea had hoped he would arrive in time to help with the club's transfer activity but Man Yoo were having none of it. That still hasn't stopped us potentially landing Scotty Parker from Charlton though!
