Hakim Ziyech has talked through the tactical changes that helped Chelsea to a 2-0 win over Spurs in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.
An early Kai Havertz strike was followed by a Ben Davies own goal as the Blues secured a first-leg advantage ahead of the return leg at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next week.
Speaking to Sky Sports post-game, Ziyech was pleased with how Chelsea played.
"I think it was a good performance from the team. It was a really strong first half, second half was a little more up and down. But overall it was a good performance and we got the job done," Ziyech said.
"In the second half they gad chances as well, but we had bigger chances. But [it finished] 2-0, we can be happy with that, there's still the game next week."
Chelsea flittered between back-four and back-five formations in the absence of several first team players, and Ziyech explained how this tactical wrinkle worked to the hosts' advantage.
"[We] just put full pressure on them, didn't give them the space and time," he said. "I think we did good, first half especially, a quick 1-0 and that's what we wanted because then we know they have to come out and make more mistakes and they did.
"Ten minutes before half-time we had the second and we had a good feeling in the dressing room. In the second half we could have killed the game more and we didn't.
"It was a bit different than usual [the formation] but I think overall it was a good performance. We have to keep performing like this.
"We had four at the back, normally it's five, so they gave us more opportunities up front because they didn't know if they had to follow the midfielders or step out. I think that was the biggest win for us.
"We forgot to finish the game, we had a lot of chances, but there's a game next week and hopefully we get the job done."
