Gudjohnsen had been quite up until the moment when he leapt up and smashed the ball home in the most outrageous fashion. And Eidur said, "Yes it was definitely the best goal I've ever scored, it was a lovely one, what makes its so special, and what make it such a nice goal is the fact that we got three points with it as well.

"I don't think I would have enjoyed that goal so much if we had lost the game."

Not content with just being pleased with his goal, he also went on to praise his team mates: "It was hard-working performance, considering who we were up against, they're a battling team, and they've obviously got a bit of confidence going when they went one nil up.

"It was good that we equalised so early in the second half, but it was a real test of character when we went behind again, it was very pleasing that we came out on top.

"Maybe our football wasn't the best of the season, but I think we showed a great will to win and never gave up at any point of the game."
