Conte: Ref made right decision not to send off Costa

Three points is all what it's about for Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte. And he got them. He also defended his star striker Diego Costa who might well have been given a red card before his late, late winner.

And the wild man of the touchline left no one who watched his antics in any doubt that he will kick every imaginary ball that comes his way, scream instructions to players who can't hear him over the crowd and gesticulate to his heart's content, in the vain hope one of his players looks across to him for guidance

Having seen his side take three points in a tense London derby against West Ham United with goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, the Italian said: “I think the team played a good game with a good spirit and the right intensity.

“Now we have to prepare the next game (against Watford on Saturday) . I’m happy, but from tomorrow we have to think of the next game.

“I want to say thanks to the fans because they followed the team to the end. It was a physical game, I’m delighted.”

Should Costa have even been on the pitch to score the late winner?
Having already received a yellow card from referee Anthony Taylor, Costa fouled goalkeeper Adrian which might have see a second yellow brandished - it wasn't and he didn't walk.

“I didn’t see it,” said Conte. “I saw Diego put the pressure on the goalkeeper and he tried to stop. In my opinion, the referee took the right decision.”
