Christian Pulisic wanted across Europe ahead of January transfer window

A number of teams across Europe are keen to sign Chelsea's Christian Pulisic on loan in January, 90min understands, but the Blues are divided over the American's next move.

Pulisic has struggled for minutes under Graham Potter and has not been a regular at Stamford Bridge since his arrival in 2019, and he is understood to be desperate to leave to reignite his club career.

The Blues signed Raheem Sterling to play in Pulisic's position during the summer and are pursuing both RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku and AC Milan's Rafael Leao in 2023, leaving Pulisic believing his best option is to leave.

Sources have confirmed to 90min that both Newcastle and Liverpool are interested in a January loan deal, but Chelsea are reluctant to bolster a Premier League rival and would prefer to send the 24-year-old overseas.

There is plenty of interest in mainland Europe, with both AC Milan and Inter chasing his signature alongside Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, but none of those interested sides have any desire to cover Pulisic's enormous wages in full - something Chelsea are demanding.

One option for Pulisic would be to agree to lower his salary but that is by no means a certainty.

Blues co-owner Todd Boehly would prefer to send Pulisic to an overseas club and is one of a number of decision-makers at Chelsea who do not believe a domestic loan should be considered, given the battle for the top four in which the club find themselves this season.

Pulisic also has to contend with Chelsea's primary desire to part ways with Hakim Ziyech, who is understood to be first in line for a January departure.

Ajax explored a deal to re-sign Ziyech in the summer but the Morocco international may have generated more suitors following his impressive performances at the World Cup.
