Chelsea to make January bid for Cahill

Chelsea manager Andre Villas Boas has reportedly identified England defender Gary Cahill as the man he wants to strengthen his back four.

Cahill is out of contract in the summer and is likely to leave Bolton in January so the club can gain a fee for the player.

The 25 year old was wanted by both Arsenal and Tottenham during the summer but neither could agree a fee for the former Aston Villa centre back.

According to The Daily Mail, Bolton are willing to let Cahill leave in the winter transfer window for ?7-8 million, this opportunity has sparked Andre Villas Boas into interest.

The Chelsea boss has been alarmed at the number of goals Chelsea have conceded this season and is determined to fix the problem be recruiting a new defender in January.
