Andre Villas-Boas has identified Jack Rodwell as the first major brick in rebuilding his Chelsea team and is confident he will land the Everton midfielder next month.
Chelsea will offer around ?20million for the young England International who has started to fulfil his potential this season.
Everton want to hold on to their prized asset but due to financial difficulties may be forced to let the 20 year-old move on.
Manager David Moyes would prefer to keep Rodwell until the end of the season, but Chelsea will open the bidding in January according to reports this morning.
