Champions League last 16 draw - as it happened

The Champions League knockout has been completed at UEFA HQ in Nyon, Switzerland, with the competition edging towards the business end of proceedings after the group stage.

It was a random draw but with several important caveats as each seeded group winner was paired against an unseeded group runner-up, while country protection also remains in place at this stage. Clubs who qualified from the same group were also kept apart for this round.

2021/22 Champions League last 16 draw

Benfica vs Real Madrid
Villarreal vs Manchester City
Atletico Madrid vs Bayern Munich
Red Bull Salzburg vs Liverpool
Inter vs Ajax
Sporting CP vs Juventus
Chelsea vs Lille
PSG vs Manchester United

Heading into 2022, last 16 first leg ties will be split across consecutive weeks on either 15/16 February or 22/23 February. The return legs will follow on 8/9 March or 15/16 March. The seeded clubs, drawn second, will also have the added advantage of playing last 16 second leg ties at home.

This is the first season in which the away goals rule has been scrapped, so extra-time is guaranteed if an aggregate score-line is level at the end of the second leg.
