It looks as if Chelsea have finally dipped into the transfer market and nabbed a Brazilian for £17m.
Benfica midfielder Ramires is expected to be announced as the Blues first major signing of the summer later today.
The 23-year-old had a medical at Chelsea training complex at Cobham this morning and should put pen to paper this afternoon to a four-year-deal.
The only complication is Ramires’s third-party ownership.
Chelsea have looked into this and are confident they will not contravene transfer regulations.
The Blues are desperate for this signing to be concluded as they need to bolster their midfield following the loss of Joe Cole and Michael Ballack.
Deco is waiting for this deal to be concluded before jetting out of London to join Juliano Belletti at Flueminese in Brazil.
