Barcelona hoping to confirm Christensen, Kessie & Mazraoui deals this month

Barcelona are hoping to reach agreements for the free transfers of Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie and Noussair Mazraoui before the end of March, 90min understands.

The Blaugrana have been looking to steal a march on their rivals by finalising transfers long before the summer window opens.

And they are set to bring in Chelsea defender Christensen, Milan midfielder Kessie and Ajax star Mazraoui, with Barça looking to confirm this trio of deals before the end of March.

Barcelona and Cesar Azpilicueta both remain hopeful that he too will join on a free transfer this summer, but his situation is a little more complicated.

While the Chelsea captain's contract expires this summer, the club retain an option to extend it by a further year. However, Azpilicueta had been hoping that the Blues would waive this clause as a show of good will for his decade of service at Stamford Bridge.

The complication is that Chelsea's new owners - whoever they may be - could choose to trigger that option. The current club hierarchy have long accepted that Christensen and Azpilicueta, in addition to star defender Antonio Rudiger, would leave this summer, but if there remains an option to keep at least one of these players at such a tumultuous time then it may be wise to exercise it.

On Barcelona's end, they are keen to add both Mazraoui and Azpilicueta to their squad despite playing in the same position, with the future of Sergino Dest up in the air.

The USMNT star had been linked with moves across Europe in the January transfer window, with Chelsea in fact touted as a potential destination for Dest.
