Back In The Hunt?

Having lost to Liverpool on Wednesday, we found ourselves seven points behind Man Yoo- hardly an insurmountable gap. But now that he have gained a further two points on the leaders, apparently we are now back in the race.

But enough with that debate, let's hear what Eidur Gudjohnsen had to say: "That was a vital win for us, a very important three points. We had to bounce back quickly from the Liverpool defeat. After a run of bad results, you need to show character. That is exactly what we did - and quietly I think everyone believes we can catch the top two."

"We played some lovely stuff in the first half, then we battled for a 20-minute spell to hold them and then we finished the game off really well. We have just got to focus on ourselves, put a strong run of results together. I have no doubt we can be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

"We have got to make sure that our bad spell is now well and truly gone and hope the other two contenders hit a bad run themselves."

And Frank Lampard reiterated the point, saying "The title race is far from over. There's a long way to go and we've had our slip-up over the last few weeks. United and Arsenal have been picking up maximum points so it was important for us to get back on track and get our confidence back.

"We haven't been as good as we could be in the last month but yesterday we were back to our best. We felt under pressure but it's mainly pressure we put on ourselves. It was test of character because a lot of people have been giving us stick, but we've bounced back.

"There was a lot of determination before the game to put our performances right and we showed what we are about from the first minute. Everyone's been working hard and we were always going to win the game."
