A number of Chelsea's prospective buyers are hoping they can persuade Antonio Rudiger to remain at Stamford Bridge, 90min understands.
The UK government have imposed sanctions on the club's oligarch owner Roman Abramovich following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which include the suspension of many parts of the business such as players contracts and transfers.
However, asreported last week, it is understood that talks over the overall sale of the club are still ongoing and the government have confirmed that they will not stand in the way of the transaction.
Rudiger is into the final months of his current contract and can leave Chelsea in the summer on a free transfer. The Germany international had looked set to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge long before Abramovich was forced to put the club up for sale.
As revealed by 90min, the 29-year-old's failure to agree new terms has not been purely financial, but the arrival of new owners in the near future could give hope to a potential deal being resurrected.
90min understands that some of the prospective buyers - of which there are believed to be around 20 - have contacted Rudiger's representatives to make it clear that keeping him would be one of their priorities.
The major issue for Chelsea could now be whether or not a takeover is completed swiftly, with Rudiger currently able to negotiate a pre-contract elsewhere.
As revealed last week there are a host of clubs in talks over bringing the centre-back in, but the four heading the chase are Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Manchester United.
