Antonio Conte insists Spurs' are 'different' to his Chelsea teams

Antonio Conte has stressed that he does not want to draw comparisons between his Tottenham side and his Chelsea teams of years gone by, but admitted that there is a different momentum about his current crop.

Spurs continued their fine start to life under Conte with a comfortable 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, climbing to fifth in the Premier League table.

The Italian said that the beginnings to his career at Spurs and Chelsea have been different because he joined the north London club mid-season, but is optimistic about how Tottenham are progressing.

"I think that this is different to the momentum at Chelsea. I don't like to compare different situations. [There is] too big a difference with my experience in the past. Also because I remember very well that I started the season [when at Chelsea] and when you start the season you get to make a decision about your players and work with them," Conte said, via football.london.

"We need to continue to exploit the confidence that is going to improve. We know very well that we have a lot of job to do. It's good to score three goals with your strikers and good to keep a clean sheet but we need to work very hard to improve the situation."

All of Spurs' front three found the back of the net on Sunday with Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min getting on the scoresheet, with the Brazilian grabbing two assists, and Conte praised the qualities that his attacking trident bring to the team.

"I think we have the strikers that are very good at receiving the ball and creating something important, to make assists. At the same time we have very good strikers when they have space in front of us to attack," Conte added.

"We’re trying to improve both situations. When you find a team that stays in their half, you have to be good to use more quality. Not run but use all your quality to make a good pass, to beat a man in a small space. But for us it’s great to have these type of strikers.

"Steven Bergwijn is another player with these characteristics. We have to continue to work and continue this with the strikers. I’m happy today because they scored and they have to thank the rest of the team because they worked very hard to create chances."
