Anton Ferdinand had his say in the John Terry race row on Wednesday as he gave evidence to police.

The QPR defender's statement is believed to contradict that of Chelsea's Terry, who is claimed to have racially abused Ferdinand when the two clubs met last month.

A source told the Sun: 'Anton has alwaysmaintained Terry's explanation isn't what he recalls happening and he made that clear to the FA, he made it clear to QPR and now he has made it clear to the Metropolitan Police.'

Several Chelsea players are also to be spoken to by the police, including Terry's fellow England defender Ashley Cole.

Cole reportedly went into the QPR dressing room after the dispute to act as a peacemaker between the two players, and police officials are insisting on Blues players coming forward to help the case.

Ferdinand, meanwhile, received a death threat in the wake of the fall out.Police were called in after a letter addressed to the 26-year-old was delivered by hand at Loftus Road.

A Met Police spokesman said on Sunday night: 'We can confirm we are investigating an allegation of malicious communication.'

Meanwhile, Chelsea say they are continuing their investigations into the offensive chanting that took place during their game against Genk last week.

The incidents happened during the Blues' Champions League tie with the Belgian side at the Cristal Arena, when some of the Chelsea's travelling contingent were clearly heard singing, 'Anton Ferdinand, you know what you are', although the match officials did not include any mention of it in their reports.

But after quickly insisting they would do all they could to root out any troublemakers, a statement on Chelsea's website read: 'Chelsea Football Club is continuing the investigation into identifying fans who participated in offensive chanting during our Champions League game against Genk.'
