Torres endured a difficult debut campaign at Chelsea following his record-breaking move from Liverpool in the January transfer window.
The Spaniard scored just one goal in 18 appearances for Chelsea last term as he failed to reproduce the form he showed during his time at Liverpool.
Anelka can understand why it may take time for Torres to settle at Stamford Bridge, but he can already see an improvement in the Spaniard in pre-season
"It's difficult when you come into a club for a lot of money," said Anelka. "I should know. You feel a lot of pressure. You have to play, you have to score and you have to play well.
"It was difficult in the beginning for Fernando but I think he looks better now.
"He has scored already this summer and I think he will be better this season. Even in training he looks better.
"It's never easy when you come from another club and you have new tactics, new players to get used to. But everybody knows his quality - he showed that at Liverpool.
"The problem is that at Chelsea we don't play the same way. There's not the same group of players and it was difficult for him in the beginning.
"Now I think you will see an improvement."
