Speaking of the decision to keep Cech in goal for his first Cup match, Jose said, “It wasn’t an easy decision for me because I think Carlo deserves to be in the goal, but it’s just a feeling you have, that you could be winning and you finish the game with a lot of crosses, with a lot of corners, they have two wide players who can cross balls, and also with Petr in the goal more understanding because he’s playing more times, so the better."

“But I promised Carlo and the players before the game that if we reached the Final the Final will be for Carlo. He play every game in the competition, he’s a fantastic professional for us, he’s been here a long time, and I think of what he means to the club and because of his contribution Carlo deserves this.”

Speaking more about the match, he commented on the move for the first goal as being perfect!

“I think we deserved it,” added Jose. “The first goal was a perfect move, and then we scored from a set-play.”

“It is good for the group. For the supporters, the staff, the players obviously, for Peter Kenyon, Roman, for everyone.”

Even though we've done the double over Liverpool this season, league game results matter little when the final is upon us.

Chelsea and Liverpool have both been allocated 30,000 tickets for the final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on February 27.
