The Chelsea boss was full of admiration for the way in which Coleman got a reaction from his players after they had suffered a humiliating 2-0 home defeat against Blackburn just four days before the cup tie at Craven Cottage.

"I felt Chris Coleman did a great job," the Blues boss said after the 2-1 win.

"He was very strong in the days after the Blackburn game. He put a lot of pressure on his players and their answer was fantastic.

"During the game tonight I was laughing saying to him 'if you'd been like this against Blackburn you would have beaten them 4-0'.

"I want to give Fulham credit. At half-time we had to change because Pape Diop was playing with a lot of freedom.

"When we got the first goal I thought the game was under control but their answer was very good and I think we were a bit lucky to score that goal at the end."
