We still need a finisher

Well it's done, maybe not dusted, but its done. Marco van Ginkel is now a chelsea player pending a medical and i for one could not be happier.

Chelsea as a club has radically shifted its focus from buying predominantly "aged-stars" to the starlets filled to the brim with potential and for me this is the right way to go so in line with this and our new policy of dishing out one year contract exensions to our above-30 players, why go after a 26year old Cavani?

For me, there is nothing wrong in putting our faith in Lukaku and Torres  and maybe promoting a backup like Islam Feruz from the youth ranks but we have to face reality and though we are gradually becoming the club with the youngest average age, we still need a proven finisher
to put away the chances our dynamic midfield is bound to create.

64m euros is a whole lot of money but so was close to 25m euros for a then 29year old Robin van Persie by Manchester United. if we can get six to seven good years out of a player like Cavani, time enough for our youths to develop and take his place, then it is worth it.
