Behind Enemy Lines - Arsenal

There is no doubt that Arsenal are the team of the moment but could recent criticisms concerning over confidence be: 1) justified and 2) your undoing?

I think that to be fair we've only shown a lack of confidence in a couple of European games but domestically there is no worries. In the last two games against Man City and Charlton we have beaten the teams easily without really trying too hard. It is a worry that over confidence may cause problems but I'm sure Arsene will stop that happening. I think it's only a certain Scotsman who thinks there is a major problem!

Chelsea have never beaten Arsenal in the FA Cup at Highbury! Arsenal’s record against Chelsea in most competitions has, in recent years, been outstanding. Chelsea held a similar record over Spurs (sorry to use that word), but last year such a record came crashing around our ears as they seriously kicked our backside’s in the semi-final of the Worthington Cup. Does it concern you that one day all records will finally come to an end and Chelsea will finally lay these Arsenal ghosts to rest?

It is a worry. Last season we lost at home to Newcastle which was their first win in the capital for ages, the same could be said of our amazing unbeaten/scoring run that ended at Old Trafford earlier this season. However, we coped with the pressure of the scoring run for a long time and I think that the record will be the last thing on the players minds come saturday (I hope!!!!)

Arsenal’s rivalry with Spurs is well documented but in recent years they have offered little in terms of a true contest (hehe). Do you still consider them as the "arch enemy" or have Chelsea managed to steal a little of their "thunder".

Arsenal v S**rs will always be the big one. But as Mr Wenger keeps pointing out, we have several derbies a season and throw in the United and Liverpool games and half of our season is a derby match. I have to admit I worry more about beating you than s**rs

There will be a number of French "stars" on show on Saturday including Vieira, Petit, Henry, Gallas, Desailly, Pires, Cygan and Wiltord. I’m sure Gallas is relishing the thought of "looking after" Henry and of course Petit will be hoping to avenge the Arsenal victory in last season’s FA Cup, but which of the French stars do you think will hold the key to Saturday's game?

Pires. He has been in wicked form since coming back and if your defence give him any room, with him up the left, Wiltord up the right and Henry up the middle, it will be hell for Desailly and co. Have to say that Petit hasn't been half as good for you as he was at Highbury though but he may show us his old style on his return.

Following this seasons home game against Arsenal I was fortunate enough to speak to Gianfranco Zola who, clearly expressed an admiration and respect for your Tony Adams! Does Arsenal still miss the personality and ability of Adams and do agree with the comparisons that have been between Adams and John Terry?

We still would love Tony to be playing but we haven't missed him as much as everyone feared. Sol and Keown at the back have started to look very good together and Vieira has taken over the mantle of captain really well. Personally I don't rate Terry as highly as some other young centre backs such as Woodgate and Upson (we shouldn't of sold him) but I can see where people are coming from. Both players have had a lot of off the field problems and its how he comes back from them that matters really, Tony is a legend here, can Terry do the same? Only time will tell.

How is Claudio viewed amongst the Arsenal supporters? Do you think he has "bees in his cockpit"? (i.e. crazy). How would the Arsenal fans react if he were made England coach?

I think he has some ability as a coach but would never want him to be England coach. I think he should be doing better with the squad he has and I also feel that his inability to communicate properly with his players will always be a problem, despite his slight improvement this year.

Who do you feel will be your key players this weekend? Who should Chelsea really fear?

Except for the French guys as said before, I think that if he plays Jeffers could be vital. He has been great recently and I think he's finally trying to show what we bought him for. Gio van Bronckhorst and Kolo Toure might be playing in the two full back positions so they will need to be in good form.

Who will Arsenal fear (if anyone) in the Blue of Chelsea?

Hasselbaink. He could be on the bench with two broken legs and he'd still probably score against us!!!!!!!

Are there any injuries/team news we should know about?

Bergkamp's probably out as is Ashley Cole for a few weeks. Other than that, Luzhny hasn't played for a while because of a strain (although he wouldn't start anyway) and Rami Shaaban our third choice keeper is out for the season.

Your match prediction?

I would love to say 10-0 to the Arsenal but think it will be a close game that we'll just about sneak. 2-1 Arsenal.

And finally the most important question is of course left to last: Who is uglier – Martin Keown or Ed De Goey? (Of course we all know what De Goey lacks in looks he seriously makes up for in personality - I wonder if the same can be said for Keown?)

Probably De Goey, but we do have some real ugly players. Cygan, Jeffers, Stepanovs, Luzhny..............

Many thanks to Arsenal FC Unofficial http://www.angelfire.com/sports/arsenalfc/ for the excellent answers. If you agree/disagree why not talk about it on the Chelsea Mad messageboard!!
