Yet Another Kenyon Blunder

Ronaldo. Raul. Beckham. Ronaldinho. Roberto Carlos. Gerrard. Trezeguet. Vieira. Henry. Sagnol. Nedved.

Who've I forgotten?!

Well that lot have all, reportedly, turned down moves to Stamford Bridge. Those are some of the biggest names in European and world football.

He has, however, recruited two of Europe's finest young talents. Arjen Robben adn Petr Cech have both impressed in Portugal, and are sure to do well for Chelsea.

So, why no 'big' names?

Maybe money doesnt talk. These guys 2 or 3 times the annual average salary in 7 days! Beckham's reported salary is £100,000+ a week. The UK's national average annual earnings in just under £25,000. The offer of more money is not likely to attract him.

Upon his arrival at Real Madrid, Willy Sagnol described Chelsea as a club with no soul. Is this really what we want? We don't waant to turn into Real Madrid. Winning the domestic league is expected. Should you not then win the European cup you are considered a failure, and possibly sacked!

Some people consider Juan Veron, Damien Duff, Hernan Crespo, etc to be big names. They aren't. They're all great players but don't have the same pedigree as the rest. David Beckham is the only over-rated player in that group, in my opinion. He'd do a job for Chelsea on the right of midfield, of this I have no doubt. However, he is England's captian and is hyped too much and is not as good as presented.

So what's Kenyon gotta do? Well i think, or is that hope, it'll turn out like busses! One big name will come, and more will follow. But until we get the first big name, Chelsea fans will be left with a feeling of anti-climax. Who knows how many players we'll sign? Already got 2. How many more?

One thing I can guarentee is even more interest and even more expectancy from the rest of the world!

And of course, us blues fans!
