Player Ratings: West Ham (h)

Carlo Cudicini - Not a lot to do apart from late on. Nice to see him back and captaining the team. 7

Paulo Ferreira - Supported well down the right and put one fabulous cross in for Kezman in the first half. Won his fair share of headers. Etherington caused him a few problems down our right though. 7

Ricardo Carvalho - Solid performance. Won loads of tackles and second balls, but was lucky not to get booked for a couple of lunges that went unpunished. 8

William Gallas - Looked much more comfortable at centre back after his spell out on the left. A couple of misunderstandings with Carvalho could've been punished, but all in all played well. 7

Celestine Babayaro - Put in some great blocks and tackles. Was everywhere down the left. Put in some great crosses, some bad ones too, and worked well in particular with Robben. 8

Geremi - A decent showing from our versitile African. Put in one great cross for Kezman that he should've converted. Strong in the tackle but a little clumsy in pocession. 6

Scott Parker - Controlled the games tempo well, playing in the holding role. Never gave the ball away and was solid. Deserved his chance, although I'd be shocked if Makelele didn't replace him for the trip to West Brom. 7

Joe Cole - Man of the match. Was a bit weak and reluctant to put his foot in. Made a few brilliant runs and charges forward. Was loving the abuse from the away fans! Two shots on goal, both very well saved. After we went 1-0 up he tried a few un-necessary tricks and flicks and was soon withdrawn! 9

Tiago - Should never shoot. Hit top tier of the Matthew Harding stand on two occasions. General play was alright but sloppy passing sometimes. Like Parker, helped contorl the general flow of the game. 7

Arjen Robben - Great to watch! Runs his heart out and delivers quality balls in nearly all the time. His understanding with Kez is clear for all to see, the way they drop off and how Kez always seems to know where Robben will put his crosses! Commits defenders and did this greatly to win the penalty off Repka. 8

Mateja Kezman - Finally got his goal! Came half an inch away from losing his eye-sight too after getting struck by a missile! Missed a couple of chances in the first half including a 1v1 and a free header. Another one of those games? No way! His first snap shot chance that he didn't have time to think about and he burries it in off the post. The stadium and the bench all celebrate. Deserved it. Hopefully first of many!! 8

SUBS:

Damien Duff - Didn't do a lot, a few mazy runs but not a lot to report. 7

Frank Lampard - General play was good, spreading the ball and tackling. Missed a penalty in front of the away end. 7

Eidur Gudjohnsen - Looked sharp and full of confidence after his recent hat trick. Didn't get a goal scoring chance but looked lively. 7
