Player Ratings: Everton (h)

Last updated : 07 November 2004 By Liam Corbett
Petr Cech - Made one stunning save from a Cahill header. Textbook as ever, however he should catch more rather than punch! 8

Paulo Ferreira - Made some encouraging runs forward and put in a couple of decent crosses. Defensively sound. 7

John Terry - Immense! 9

Ricardo Carvalho - Beaten in the air a few times by Bent, but was very good overall and deserved his chance ahead of Gallas. Defended will no fuss or nonsense attitude. 7

Celestine Babayaro - He rarely gets a chance, and when he does he should take it. Not stand around admiring Robben all afternoon. (To be fair who wasn't?) But his usual attacking attitude wasnt there and he didnt give Robben or Duff decent support. Defensively though he wasn't beaten by Osman. 6

Arjen Robben - What more can I say? He is looking more and more like a world class player. Not just a very good player, but world class! The fact he's 20 is most frightening. He reminds me of a better version of what Giggs was like when he was younger! Took his goal superbly with a deft touch to finish it. 2 goals in last 2 games. He gets bums off seats and has ridden us of the boring boring Chelsea jibes! Unlucky to hit bar with a stunning first half volley. 10

Claude Makelele - Conceded pocession too often but worked hard to get and keep it! Range of passing was his normal nothing over 10 yards! But does his job well and is never tempted to forward in search of the glory! 7

Damien Duff - Not at his best but still made a few noticeable runs and drives forward. Doesn't look too comfortable on the right but still casued a few problems. 7

Tiago - Woeful. Gives away pocession way too much and I don't see him in the bracket of quality we need if we seriously want to win the Premiership and Champions League. A more panicy and square passing version of Makelele! (And stop signing his name! Its a catchy song but that's about it! Sing Robben's name!) 5

Frank Lampard - Had a few snap shots he'd have wanted to have done better with. Coped well with a packed midfield and was strong in the tackle. Laughed in the face of Kenyon's long lost brother Thomas Gravesen when the little pitbull got angry. Needs to keep his hair on! But Lamps looks top draw this season, his range of passing is fantastic and he seems an overall better player. 7

Eidur Gudjohnsen - Ran tirelessly for the cause but saw only one sight of goal that he sliced over. Perfectly weighted pass for Robben's goal, his vision was great. Has held the line well since Drogba's injury. 6
