Player Ratings - Stuttgart (a)

Last updated : 26 February 2004 By Liam Corbett
Carlo Cudicini - Made some vital saves when he needed to, best one was jsut before we scored, after aobut 7 minutes. Very unfairly booked for time wasting. He couldn't take the goal kick so he couldn't waste time with it could he?! Stupid ref. What a deek. 8

Glen Johnson - Man of the match. Made important tackles when their left midfielder pushed forwards, which seemed to be every 2 minutes in the second half. Great cross that was converted for our goal. Seems to be hungry to get his right back place bakc after Mario's spell there. 9

John Terry - Just getsa better and better. Didn't duck out of any tackles (does he ever?) and if more of the team were like him then we would certainly be better placed in the league. His passion is evident. 8

William Gallas - Plays very well with Terry, and has now secured himself as the permanent partner at centr half, with Marcel Desailly now no more than a substitute! Cleared our lines more than once and seems to have developed a great understanding with JT. 8

Wayne Bridge - Going forward he didn't show his best but defending he was outstanding. Nothing got in from their right hand side all night. 7

Geremi - Looks clumsy on the ball, and played some decent through balls, but they just lacked the qulaity someone like Seba Veron would've delivered. Cut inside too much, and didn't try to beat his man too often. 7

Claude Makelele - Just couldn't wait to get rid of the ball when he got it. Played stray passes seemingly every time he had it. Booked. 5

Frank Lampard - Again our best midfielder. Showed determinataion and played some nice passes throughout the evening. 8

Gronkjaer - So frustrating every time! He never tried to beat his man. His confidence seems to have been taken away from him. 6

Hernan Crespo - Ran the line well, especially when up there on his own. Had a goal ruled out for offside, and was always showing for the ball. 7

Eidur Gudjohnen - Missed an absolute sitter at this level in the first half. 12 yards out, no defenders and keeper out of position Eidur put it in row Z. He does, however, seem to be the only striker able to work well with all the other three. 6
