Getting Shirty

The new Uefa rules not allowing footballers to remove their shirts is barmy. It's a law made up by a load of idiots trying to spoil the game, all sitting round a table who have never kicked a ball between them!

No more t-shirt messages such as 'Cheer Up Luca, We Love You, XX.'

When Vialli seemed to be going through a difficult time at Chelsea, Dennis Wise paid tribute to him as we advanced past Wimbledon to the FA Cup Final in 1997.

Last weekend, Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie scored a cracker, contender for goal of the season. He ran to the fans as most palyers would want to. Yellow card! He could be stirring violence and casue a rush of fans that could result in a fatal crush. Rubbish! Had he removed his shirt and ran to the fans would he have been sent off for two bookable offences? I doubt it. But to the letter of the law, as referee's always preach about, he should've been!

Can you imagine sitting out a ban for a game for taking your shirt off and running to the fans, which may includes friends or family?!

Lee was joined by at least 4 Villa players in his celebration, all of which left the field of play to congratulate the young lad. None of them received cautions, even though to the letter of the law, their offence was no worse than Hendrie's!

Joe Cole always removes his shirt when he scores. He does no harm. He did so below, after scoring his first goal for his country. Under the new rules, he would be dismissed for it! Its totally un-necessary in my opinion.

Everton's Tim Cahill scored on his Everton debut, but was given a second yellow card and sent off for this.

As I said the footballing world seems to have gone mad. There are many other areas of the game, such as cameras on the goal-line, etc that need to be reviwed more urgently, rather than a palyer pulling his shirt over his head!!

RANT OVER!
