Player Ratings: Portmsmouth (a)

Neil Sullivan- Made one great save from Yakubu but was otherwise very uncertain. Sully made life difficult for himself by playing with "lead feet" as it were, making his saves even tougher! Must also improve his kicking after one effort hit JT and should have been buried by Yakubu. 6

Mario Melchiot- Mario is know for his calmness, but he was a bit too casual and allowed Pompey too much space at times. His attacking play, as ever, was impressive though. 7

William Gallas- Great showing by Willy, always looked in control. He and JT play so well together and are certainly first choice centre back pairing. 8

JT- Absolutely immense!! Did not put a foot wrong all night. 9

Wayne Bridge- Kept his nerve under hostile conditions. The fans may have barracked him for the whole 90 minutes, but he didn't give the Pompey right back a moments peace all night long. 7

Scott Parker- Solid performance by Scotty, capped by a goal! Took his chance superbly and tackled with real bite. Unfortunately, he is yet to develop an understanding with his teammates (not surprising really!) which meant that our passing game didn't quite flow as it could. 7

Claude Makelele- Mr consistency let himself down a bit with some wayward passing, but did his job well for the most part. He is like the football/soccer equivalent of an American Football quarter back! 7

Frank Lampard- Not his best showing by a long way but he still managed to score a goal (which was disallowed!!) and force Hislop into a great save. His pass to JFH for the Crespo goal shows how good Frank really is though- as good as any pass you'll see! 7

Jesper Gronkjaer- What's going on here?? Jesper putting in two decent performances, one after the other! Do you think it's just a coincidence that he has played both games on the left flank? 7

Adrian Mutu- Poor game for Adrian, never really at the races. his set pieces were as bad as anyone I've ever seen- how many times did he fail to beat the near post? Set up Parker's goal superbly though. 6

Eidur Gudjohnsen- Like so many of our players, Eidur was far from his best, but he still showed his usual class on several occasions. Links the play up superbly, but can he and Mutu really play together? 7
