'We should score more,' laments Jose

Chelsea defeated Middlesbrough by one goal to nil, but should have had a hat-full according to Jose.
The Portuguese man said after the win at the Bridge: “I think we should score more goals because of the way we play. But Middlesbrough played well. They had the first chance and when they went behind, they changed the way they played in order to get a result.

“I am annoyed that we did not score more goals. We missed quite a few chances, especially Drogba and Lampard.

They had good chances.

“But they gave us a difficult game. I know that we can fight to hold onto leads and defend well. We always felt comfortable.

“Once we scored, I made changes to protect what we had. At 1-0 they had a diamond formation so I brought on a midfielder in Geremi to counter it.

“But while I was happy with the score I brought on Wright-Phillips because his pace would allow us to score more.

“It was three important points.

“I am very pleased with Robben’s performance.. He is very important to us.

“He now needs to play, he is fit, but perhaps not yet for the full 90 minutes.

“John Terry is a great captain. I would prefer him to score one goal to win us the game than to score in a game when we already have five goals.

“I don’t care if he goes to the bookies - He came to me when he scored because I bet he would score.”

Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren was delighted with his team: “We are disappointed with the result,” he said.

“We were the better team for much of the game.

“That is five games in 13 days and I’m delighted with them.

“We came here with a system to win and we nearly did it.

“Chelsea know they have had a tough game today.

“We did not deserve to lose and deserved to score in the first half.

“I know that John Terry is their danger man, especially from set plays.

“Chelsea are a very good side.

“ They are direct on the wings with great pace, but we defended them well.

“All my players should be proud of themselves,” he concluded.
