Steve Clarke says Chelsea are not interested in signing David Beckham.

Speaking after Chelsea's hard-fought 2-0 win over Portsmouth, Chelsea assistant manager said: "Beckham is not a player we are interested in."

Newspaper reports suggested that Jose Mourinho and chief executive Peter Kenyon had falling out over rumours that Kenyon was signing the Real Madrid midfielder.

"If they have had a bust-up," said Clarke, "they must have kissed and made up as they are laughing away in the changing room now.
"Only the manager signs players unless you are Hearts," he added.

Of the game itself, Clarke said: "I'm happy with the points."

Speaking about the early change of Del Horno: It was a tactical change. - it was nil - nil at that stage.

“We have done it before with Duff at left back.

"We felt we could exploit the space better.

"I don’t expect there to be any problem with him. Players have to accept changes when they are made.

"What do you expect a player to do - laugh and smile when they come off?

“The double change of Gudjohnsen and Makelele was to change the shape of the team and it worked.

“It was a physically tough game, especially after midweek.

“Some players have run kilometres more than normal.

“But Portsmouth did well."

Harry Rednapp says he will not go out for dinner with nephew Frank Lampard: "What! You think I am suicidal?

“Frank is a super player. It was not a surprise He is always liable to score a great goal.

"I told my players to close him down and not let play from 20 or 30 yards, but that’s what he’s good at.

"I will probably speak to him later but I’m going home.

"Frank is a total professional both on and off the pitch, the perfect role model for any young player.”

"As for the game, I thought we had an equaliser when I saw Routledge put the cross over for Richard Hughes. I was waiting for the ball to hit the back of the net, but it did not happen did it.

"But we were not under any pressure for most of the game. We were comfortable.

"It’s going to be tough now (to avoid relegation) but we need to go on a run of games now and get something like 21 points from 10 games.

"I will settle for reaching 40 points now, all of us down there will.

“It’s easy to say I should have brought on Wayne Routledge earlier, but I hope he performs well until the end of the season.

“Dean Kiely did very well for us. He is a top -class professional and is great on and off the pitch."
