Andres Villas-Boas cut down any suggestion that he does not get on with his senior players.
“It's untrue that there is any problem with senior players and me," said the 34-year-old manager - it's unfair.”
After the game Villas-Boas went onto the pitch to congratulate his team. Goal hero Lampard remained out of reach, preferring to celebrate with the Chelsea fans on the far side of the pitch.
Lampard was the last person to leave the field.
Goals from Ramires and a last-minute blaster from Frank Lamaprd secured three vital points.
“It was good to find the strength of character to continue to attack when Wolves scored," said the Portuguese manager.
“It was a fair result.
“Wolves made us fight for the result and there was good emotions from the crowd. And a good response to all the negativity.”
The emotion from the crowd appeared to be echoed from some of his players following Brazil midfielder Ramires secon-half opener. He, Bosingwa, Luiz and Meireles were first to race to the dug out and jump over their manager and coaching staff.
“That celebration was a show of unity after all negative stories coming out,” said Villas-Boas.
“It was good to see. I was not aware if any celebration was planned - the team did magnificently.
“The celebration is part of what they (players) are feeling. It's more about team spirit.
“We had the good luck that was missing from the Fulham match,” he insisted.
Speaking about the good away form of his side, Villas-Boas said: “We are more tranquil away from home and we need to correct our home form.
“It's a learning process. we are still in the formative period.”
The Chelsea boss then suggested that the title is not out of their sights this season. "This team is focused in getting consistency of results,” said Villas-Boas.
“If we get that and go on a run of results, we can fight for the title.
He then contradicted himself by adding: “We are not in it (the title hunt).”
He then corrected himself again: “I think we need to get into a good run of results then hope other top teams will slip up.
“The matches when the top six sides play each other can have an impact (on the title).
“Arsenal found the wining streak .”
This win was Chelsea's first win five league games following three 1-1 draws and a defeat to Aston Villa. Villas-Boas said: “This is our best period of the season and is not good enough” Match-winner Lampard was handed a yellow card from referee Peter Walton for cutting down Adam Hammill.
Villas-Boas suggested that Lampard’s good character prevented what looked a red card offence. “Peter Walton established the criteria early on by not yellow carding the challenges.
“Lampard was over the top, but Walton must have thought Lampard was not a dirty player.
“Against QPR earlier in the season! the ref was not consistent.”
Of his injured players today, Daniel Sturridge and Didier Drogba travelled to Wolverhampton.
“Drogba and Sturridge had a fitness test," said Villas-Boas.
“But Didier is still limping, Sturridge had a 30 per cent chance to play. but we decided not to take any chances with them.
“Drogba will have treatment with his national side ahead of his call-up on January 7 to the Africa Cup of Nations.
“Sturridge has a small chance to face Portsmouth next Saturday in the FA Cup.”
Villas -Boas then fired a broadside warning at the Ivory Coast management. “I expect then to be consistent in who and when they call them up,” he said.
“I expect all the Ivory Coast players to go at the same time. That includes Gervinho of Arsenal and Yaya Toure of Manchester City.”
