Tottenham have released a statement supporting Antonio Rudiger following the player's reaction to an investigation in to alleged racist abuse he suffered, while admitting they could re-open the case should further evidence be brought to light.
Chelsea's Rudiger claimed that 'racism won' following an inconsequential investigation in to claims made by the player that he was racially abused during the Blues' 2-0 win at Tottenham back on 22nd December.
The game was briefly stopped when the German defender reported hearing monkey noises to officials, but a subsequent investigation saw Spurs state that they weren't able to 'corroborate or contradict' the claims made by the Chelsea man.
However, Tottenham have now responded to Rudiger's comments, supporting the 26-year-old and reiterating that they could re-open the investigation if new evidence is uncovered.
As quoted by FourFourTwo, Tottenham stated: "
"An exhaustive investigation was undertaken with the Metropolitan Police at the time following the player’s allegation and we remain open to revisiting this should any new information come to light."
Rudiger recently commented on the issue in question following Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Spurs on Saturday, stating that he felt 'alone' after his claims seemingly fell on deaf ears, and described himself as the 'bogeyman' following boos he received from the visiting fans at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
During the previous game between the two sides back in December, police also investigated alleged racist abuse aimed at Tottenham attacker Son Heung-min - an investigation that resulted in the arrest of a Chelsea fan.
However, Rudiger's claims seemingly didn't warrant any action from Tottenham or the police, but the defender insists he will continue to fight against discrimination.
