Tottenham & Chelsea Add Bournemouth's Aaron Ramsdale to Goalkeeper Shortlists

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are understood to be monitoring Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale ahead of potential summer bids.

The two sides are considering a shake-up in their goalkeeping departments. Spurs want somebody to compete with Hugo Lloris for minutes, while Chelsea have been tipped to offload Kepa Arrizabalaga after a poor season.

Aaron Ramsdale

As there so often is with these stories, there have been plenty of potential signings suggested, the latest of which is Ramsdale. According to the Daily Mail, the two London rivals have been hugely impressed with him this year.

Despite Bournemouth's struggles, the 21-year-old has enjoyed a solid campaign, and his tally of 101 saves is the third highest in the entire division Newcastle United's Martin Dúbravka and Arsenal's Bernd Leno.

Spurs are believed to see him as real competition for Lloris, who cannot stay out the headlines because of high-profile mistakes.

The Frenchman was his polarising self in the recent 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig, in which he probably should have dealt with the German side's two opening goals, so it's not hard to see why Spurs want some reliable cover.

At the minute, they have Paulo Gazzaniga and Michel Vorm to turn to, but Ramsdale would be an obvious upgrade on both.

As for Chelsea, Frank Lampard's issues with Arrizabalaga are well-documented. The Spaniard has racked up plenty of errors this year, prompting rumours that he could be replaced by pretty much every goalkeeper in the world.

Kepa Arrizabalaga

We've had Nick Pope, Dean Henderson and this utterly ridiculous link to Marc-André ter Stegen, and now it appears that Ramsdale has had his name thrown into the hat.

In Arrizabalaga's defence, he has actually been fairly good since returning to the lineup. It would be a surprise to see him discarded based on current form, but the damage might already be done after an abysmal start to the campaign.
