Fernando Torres has finally come out of the woodwork and decided he's staying at Liverpool.

Torres has stated today after months of speculation that: "I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"My commitment and loyalty to the club [Liverpool and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed.

"From my first day I got the same welcome as Stevie [Gerrard] or Carra [Jamie Carragher] or players who have been here for a long time," he said.

"I felt at home from the first day, I feel the fans love me and everyone knows I am really happy here and really happy to play at Anfield.

"I'm looking forward to starting the season and playing with my team-mates and for the fans."

Chelsea made Torres their mumber one target and will be bitterly dissapointed that they have failed to lure the World Cup winner from the North East.

In recent week's Carlo Ancelotti has accepted that Torres would probably stay at Liverpool.

The Italian has said he is happy with his strike force of Drogba, Anelka, Kalou and Sturridge.

Chelsea won the league and cup double last season but have suffered terribly in pre-season games losing the last two of three and having only a victory against Crystal Palace to show for their efforts

They play their final game tomorrow in Germany against Hamburg before the real test against Manchester United on Sunday in the Community Shield.
