Last updated : 01 November 2012 By DSG

Petr Cech arrived to The Barclays Premier League as an expensive understudy to Carlo Cudicini. However, an injury to Cudinic meant Cech was thrown straight into action and he didn?t disappoint. He managed to retain his place in the Chelsea side even when Cudicini returned.

Cech holds a few impressive records for goalkeeping. He won the 04/05, 06/07 and 07/09 Best Goalkeeper award in the UEFA Champions League ? as well as being named in the FIFPro and Champions League teams of the season in 2006.

He also holds the Premier League record for fewest appearances required to reach 100 clean sheets ? doing so in just 180 league appearances. No doubt though his most impressive performance seen in The Barclays Premier League was during the 04/05 season where Cech went 1025 minutes without conceding a goal. A Premier League record till it was beaten by Edwin van der Sar. Cech has won the Golden Glove in 04/05 and 09/10 seasons in a Chelsea shirt.

Having played almost 400 games for Chelsea and at just the age of 30 as well as being dubbed the future captain of Chelsea ? expect Cech to remain Chelsea number one for years to come.
