Thomas Tuchel insists Todd Boehly takeover didn't distract Chelsea in Wolves draw

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has claimed the club's impending takeover had no bearing on his side's performance in the disappointing 2-2 draw with Wolves.

It was confirmed on confirmed in the early hours of Saturday that Todd Boehly's consortium should complete their purchase of the club by the end of May, and the LA Dodgers co-owner was in the stands at Stamford Bridge later in the day as the Blues dropped two points at the death.

Chelsea had led Wolves 2-0 with just 11 minutes remaining, but Tuchel's side somehow conspired to throw away their two-goal advantage in stoppage time as Conor Coady netted an equaliser with the last kick of the game.

Speaking after the match, Tuchel was adamant that the takeover and Boehly's presence had not affected concentration levels, and insisted that he had ignored the news until the game was out of the way.

"No, I don't think ownership is a reason for lack of focus," the German said. "We showed when the situation began that we can still focus. I would not consider this as advantage for Leeds as it does not change much for us because the sanctions are not lifted.

"It's not worth thinking about, we have our own stuff to solve and make better.

"I heard the news this morning and I was in my match routine so there was no reaction from me. I have not spoken to anybody yet but as I said, I was in my morning routine.

"I do not check my phone or scroll the news when in my routine and that was the same as always because I have a lot to do. I do what I do, which is to try to do the best preparation for the match."

He added: "We invited the counter-attacks and big chances. Once you do this you lose confidence and invite the opponent to smell that something is possible when it is unnecessary."

The result means Chelsea are not just four points clear of Arsenal in fourth, and the Gunners have played a game less. With his side in indifferent form, Tuchel has admitted he is 'concerned' about their top four chances.
