Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has conceded defeat in his bid to retain the Champions League after his side fell 3-1 to Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
The Blues put in a woeful first-half showing which saw Karim Benzema net two superb headers, but Kai Havertz pulled one back before the break to give Chelsea some renewed optimism heading into the second half.
The rug would soon be pulled out from under their feet, however, as a huge error from goalkeeper Edouard Mendy gifted Benzema his third and put the game to bed - despite Chelsea's best efforts late on.
After the game, Tuchel was asked whether this tie was still alive, to which he responded: "No."
He continued: "We have to get our level back. I don't know where it is since the international break. The first half was a repetition of the second half against Brentford.
"We have to get things ready for Saturday (against Southampton), we can't be thinking about the Bernabeu."
Earlier, Tuchel told BT Sport that Chelsea's first-half performance was perhaps the worst he had ever seen from the Blues.
"It's a heavy loss," he said. "It was one of the worst first halves that I've seen at Stamford Bridge, You cannot play like this. Far, far, far from our standards.
"If we keep on playing like this, we lose at Southampton and then get hammered at the Bernabeu."
