Thiago Silva's wife defends Brentford display in passionate Instagram post

Thiago Silva's wife, Belle, has launched an impassioned defence of her husband on Instagram following the Brazilian's woeful Chelsea display against Brentford.

The Blues lost 4-1 to their west London neighbours at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Antonio Rudiger gave the hosts the lead before a double from Vitaly Janelt and strikes from Christian Eriksen and Yoane Wissa completed a memorable comeback for the Bees.

Silva looked way off the pace as Chelsea switched to a back four formation, but the defender's wife quickly took to social media to explain why her husband may have looked subpar.

"Attention viewers," Belle said on Instagram. "I’m here in my box at Stamford Bridge. I’ve just listened right now to the commentator saying that Thiago Silva is not attacking enough.

"Respect Thiago Silva, because Thiago Silva arrived yesterday. Thiago Silva played for Brazil. Thiago Silva is very tired. Thiago Silva is 37 years [old], he plays like he is 20 years old.

"So respect him, he’s not a machine. He needs to relax, alright?"

The 4-1 defeat to Brentford was nearly a year to the day since arguably Silva's worst ever performance for Chelsea. Thomas Tuchel's side slipped to a 5-2 loss against relegation-bound West Brom on April 3 2021, with Silva receiving two bookings inside the opening 29 minutes of play.

Silva remains a popular figure at Stamford Bridge, with the Brazilian admitting on several occasions that he feels loved at Stamford Bridge.
