Terry red card to be contested

Chelsea are planning to appeal against the red card handed down to captain John Terry on Saturday.
JT brought down Manchester City striker Jo just inside his own half following a wayward pass by Deco on 78 minutes.
Ref Mark Halsey brandished the straight red card.
The FA have stated that the card was issued for a serious foul play rather than for a professional foul.
Ricardo Carvalho was behind Terry and was in a position to defend the attack had Jo got past Terry.
But seriously, could anyone think that Terry's foul was serious play?
No chance. The ref cocked it up and is now trying to muddy the waters by claiming it was a serious foul.
There is no way on earth the striker was in any danger.
Halsey should have waited a couple of seconds to evaluate the situation properly - he would have seen Carvalho and judged in the incident to be just a yellow card at best.
The appeal will be heard tomorrow.
Chelsea will cite the tackle by Vidic on Robbie Keane in the Liverpool v Manchester United clash as an example of what Halsey should have done.
In that instance, the ref Harold Webb judged the foul to warrant a simple yellow. There was even greater claim for the foul to be serious and not just a professional foul. But justice was done on that occasion.
JT is set to miss the clash against Manchester United on Sunday if the appeal fails.
