Savage Charged

The case will be heard on August 26th, where Savage will be asked to explin himself and give his side of events.

Brum boss Steve Bruce thinks that Savage is being unfairly treated, and that he is being punished more for his reputation.

"When it's Robbie Savage it's easy meat," Bruce winged. "I know that the public perception is that when there's trouble around Robbie is usually involved in it.

"But there's a bit of difference from saying he's fully committed to deliberately elbowing somebody because I know that is not in his locker.

"I really do genuinely feel he has been harshly treated."

Savage, however, has chosen not to contest the decision and will serve an immediate three match ban.

The incident occured during the second half when Kezman appeared to put an arm around Savage in a race for the ball, and Savage retaliated by swinging his elbow and hitting Kezman in the face.

Joe Cole's deflected solo goal secured the blues the three points.
