Romelu Lukaku: Todd Boehly's links to Jay-Z could aid Inter return

Todd Boehly’s relationship with Roc Nation Sports could aid Chelsea's attempts to offload striker Romelu Lukaku to Inter.

The Serie A side have privately confirmed their interest in re-signing Lukaku, with Chelsea prepared to facilitate a move for the Belgian, who managed 15 goals in 44 games following his £97.5m signing last summer.

The main issue is that Inter cannot afford to pay anywhere near the fee Chelsea parted with to sign Lukaku, while his high wages are well beyond what the Nerazzurri could offer as well.

There will need to be effort made from everyone involved, but as noted by The Telegraph, there is hope that the good relationship between Boehly and Roc Nation, who work closely with Lukaku, could smooth things over.

Roc Nation manage Lukaku's commercial interests and Boehly has a long history of doing business with the group, which was founded by rapper Jay-Z, and the new Chelsea owner even has a history of working directly with Jay-Z as the duo were part of a high-profile investment in Fanatics.

The group are not in sole control of Lukaku's business, with lawyer Sebastien Ledure also taking a significant role as agent Federico Pastorello's contract with Lukaku approaches its end.

This week Harry Symeou steps in for Scott and the trio discuss the futures of Bukayo Saka, Rafael Leao, Romelu Lukaku, Kalvin Phillips, Youri Tielemans, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus and more.

However, there is hope that Boehly's ties with Roc Nation could work to everyone's advantage, with everyone keen to sort out a return to Inter for Lukaku.

The final decision on Lukaku's future will be left to manager Thomas Tuchel, with Boehly keen to give the manager the majority of the control when it comes to Chelsea's transfer business - similar to how Liverpool and Manchester City operate with Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola respectively.

Tuchel is not understood to be desperate to offload Lukaku but would not provide any obstacle if a deal could be agreed.
