Roman said "Chelsea played great and I think the team showed the Russian character to hold on, to fight, to win.

"This is a great result. We are now waiting for Monaco."

Chief executive Peter Kenyon also had some positive words for the players: "The timing of Arsenal's goal was horrendous for us and I don't think the half-time scoreline was justification for how we played.

"But the players came out fighting, the spirit came through and I think the win was deserved."

As for Monaco, Kenyon added "Didier has done a great job there. There are no easy teams at this stage, but it will be great to play them in the semi-final."
