Remy warns against complacency

It may only be November but Jose Mourinho's side already boast a comfortable lead at the top of the table, performing so impressively that one bookmaker has already paid out on them winning it.

The fact the west Londoners' traditional rivals are faltering has made things even more comfortable, yet summer signing Remy knows they cannot afford to be complacent.

"For me, it is a real opportunity to win a trophy or something here," said the France international, who was twice part of a title-winning squad with Lyon.

"Every player is conscious that we can really win something this year, but the most important thing is to stay focused about the same thing and don't think the league is already won

I think it is a trap if we think that.

"We just have to try to win game after game and we know there are a lot of games coming so we have to be careful and play the same way we are playing at the minute."

Remy is loving life at Stamford Bridge thanks to Chelsea's successful start to the campaign and the chance to learn off Diego Costa and fans' favourite Didier Drogba.

The 27-year-old striker can certainly allow himself a wry smile given how things have panned out since Liverpool pulled the plug on a move for him.

A failed medical saw Remy return to QPR but a £10.5million move across west London eventually came through.

"Everything happens for a reason so I am very happy to be here," he said.

"The past is the past so now I forget it and I am just concentrated on my team and, yes, winning the title with my team.

"For me the past is the past

We are just looking forward."

That focus on the future includes a tilt at Champions League glory, with Chelsea able to secure a place in the last 16 on Tuesday at Schalke.

"We have to finish the job because we know the situation," Remy added.

"We can still finish third or second

This game against Schalke is really important.

"Now that we have done the job (by beating West Brom 2-0 on Saturday) we are all focused on the game on Tuesday, which is very important.

"I think the quality of the squad says enough, though

We have enough quality to win this game

I think it is going to be tough but I think we can win this game."
