Red card is a red herring

Chelsea's limp attempts to regain the Premier League was washed away by the nightmare of the defeat against Liverpool.
It's not fair to say it was a spineless performance but it was not far off.
Constant winging about teams coming to Stamford Bridge to defend and hope to get a break feel a tad hollow today after Chelsea tried to stifle the life out of Liverpool.
It took until the 75th minute before the Blues attempted an effort on Reina's goal - 75 minutes!

The loss of Lampard for his well-timed but ill-judged tackle on Alonso must not mask what was another shocking display from the side taking home an average of £80K a week.
It's pointless (literally) to go over team selection. The fact is so many players failed to look like they wanted to be there.
They were scared and desperate not to make mistakes.
Alex was brilliant, Lampard effective - but that was it. The rest should hold their heads in shame.
Quite where Chelsea go from here is unclear.
The Chelsea board have clearly directed Scolari to persure a path that does not include significant signings.
Now is the time for clear and decisive leadership.
I suspect Roman Abramovich will now look to Scolari and ask himself: "Is this the man I want to give money to to rebuild the side?"
Abramovich will look enviously at the work started by Gianfranco Zola at West Ham.
Is it too early to bring Franco across London, back to his spiritual home?
Serious questions about the direction the club is going must be answered.
The fans have a right to know.
Will the club inform them?
