Injuries to Duff, Babayaro, Veron, Petit, Parker's contractual agreement not to play against Charlton, Geremi on international duty and Joe Cole's suspension mean that Glen Johnson may have to fill in in midfield.
Other options include Alexis Nicolas or Oliviera, but both are un-tested at this level, and a televised game of such importance may not be the best introduction for them.
