Terry and Gudjohnsen scored the goals to make it a 5-0 aggregate win over the Bulgarian side, and it also ensured that Chelsea are seeded for the second round draw in Geneva today.
Ranieri said he was right in his decision to play the trio, despite their problems this week.
"I don't listen to anybody, I decide.
Terry and Gudjohnsen have both played in our last two matches and have kept their concentration.
The goals they scored tonight will be good for their confidence," he said.
The boss also admitted it could have been a potentially tricky tie for his side, but he was delighted with the way his players coped and believes they can now go on to better things.
He added: "At the beginning of the game it was difficult for us because it was very important to keep our concentration.
After we scored our first goal the match became a different match.
"It was very important for us to win and I am happy with my players.
I hope we can go all the way in this competition.
I want to win and so do my players."
