Petr Cech to leave Chelsea technical and performance advisor role

Chelsea have confirmed that Petr Cech will leave his role as the club's technical and performance advisor at the end of June, following Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck out of the boardroom this summer.

Granovskaia has left her role as director but will remain available to the club until the end of the summer transfer window, while Buck will step down as chairman at the end of the month to take on more of an adviser role.

The next figure to leave the club is Cech, who after three years in the role at Stamford Bridge, will not continue under the Todd Boehly-led regime.

In a statement on the club's website, Cech said of his departure on June 30: "It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years. With the Club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside. I am pleased that the Club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success both on and off the pitch."

Boehly, chairman and co-controlling owner, added: "Petr is an important member of the Chelsea family. We understand his decision to step away and thank him for his contributions as an advisor and his commitment to the club and to our community. We wish him the best."

Cech's departure means manager Thomas Tuchel will have to get used to an entirely new boardroom. Boehly has replaced Buck as Chelsea's chairman and is also operating as interim sporting director while a replacement for Granovskaia is found.

Boehly is expected to reach out to former Liverpool chief Michael Edwards to determine his interest in making the move to west London.
